Actress and filmmaker Ruth Kadiri has spoken about how she started her French language YouTube channel, which has now grown to over one million subscribers.
She said the idea came shortly after she gave birth to her daughter while she was in London. According to her, she does not speak French, but she still felt strongly pushed to begin the project even though it did not make sense to her at the time.
She explained that her early efforts to set up the channel did not go well. She searched for translators and people who could help, but things did not work out. She also said she lost money to someone she trusted who later disappeared, which made her abandon the plan for a while.

Ruth said the idea returned in an unexpected way when she received a phone call from a man who asked if she was still interested in doing French content. She said that was the moment the right help came in, and the project finally took off.

She added that the growth of the channel to over one million subscribers showed her that things do not always happen according to human plans.
She said: “After I had my daughter in London, I was walking down the stairs one day, and I felt God say, start a French YouTube channel. I did not speak French. It made no sense, but I knew that voice. It had guided me before.
“I tried to obey. I looked for translators, but it did not work out. One person took my money and disappeared. I became tired and dropped the idea. I felt maybe I heard wrong this time.
“Then, one day, a man called me and asked if I was interested in doing French. Just like that, the right person appeared. Today, that French channel has over a million subscribers. That is how God’s plans are different from our plans.”
