Here are some notable sportsmen and women who have announced their retirement

In the sporting world, it is common for sportsmen to take a break after a successful career to reap the rewards of their diligence and self-control. Here are five sportsmen who will be greatly missed after announcing their retirements in 2022.

Alyson Felix, an American track and field athlete, has graciously stepped down to concentrate on other matters, particularly family and raising her child. In her final international competition, the 36-year-old earned gold and bronze medals in the World Athletic championships. Even so, she created the “race for change” in addition to organizing other programs like “free onsite childcare, private lactation facilities, powerful arts and crafts, and mother/daughter races” because her desire was a match in her city.

She saluted the crowd not only as an athlete but also as a change-maker and advocate for women.

Roger Federer

After 1500 games over 24 years, the Swiss legend called it quits from the beautiful game of tennis. Federer has six triumphs in season-ending finals, has been ranked first for 310 weeks, and has won numerous additional honours. Federer, who is now 41, has demonstrated his dedication to his sport.

He played Rafael Nadal in his most recent match, which he lost. He said this on Twitter: “Lost my last singles, Last doubles, lost my job, my retirement could not have been more perfect.”

Mikel Obi
