Death: Five celebrities who died in 2022


In 2022, Nigeria Movie Industry, Nollywood was shaken following the sudden death of most prominent actors and actresses.

Most actresses and actors described the deaths of their colleagues as painful, heavy in the heart as well as unbearable.

In this article, NRTC disclosed the causes of their death, children and popular movies that brought them into the limelight.

Ada Ameh 

The 48-year-old late actress who spent more than two decades in the Nigerian movie industry died on 17th of July, 2022 at a Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) hospital in Delta State, after she collapsed as a guest of an oil company toyshop and his family.

The death of Ameh who came into the limelight following her role in the 1996 movie titled Domitilla and in the award-winning Nigerian television series titled The Johnsons was announced by the President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, Emeka Rollas.

Ameh who won Nollywood Movies Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role lost her only daughter, Aladi God gift, two years before her death.

The talented actress was laid to rest in her hometown, Ogobia, in Otukpo LGA, Benue State.

Chinedu Bernard

 

The Enugu-born Nollywood actress died on April 29, 2022, at the East Side Hospital in Enugu State after she slumped while cleaning the Chapel of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in the Federal Housing area of the state.

The actress who died in his early 20s was confirmed dead in an undisclosed hospital she was rushed to by the priest, Reverend Father Uchendu Chukwuma, and some parishioners of the church.

The late actress became known after her roles in  ‘The Mad’, ‘Money Fever’, ‘The Big Mama’s Stick’, ‘The Last Manhood’ and ‘Mad Love’.

She was buried in her father’s compound in Enugu.

NRTC could not confirm whether she was married or had a child before her death.

David Osagie 

The 52-year-old who gained popularity for playing the role of a king in movies, died on May 3rd, 2022  in his hotel room after a movie shoot, in the SouthEast region.  

NRTC found out that the actor was not sick but slept and did not wake up the following day.

During his lifetime, the late actor didn’t post his family on social media, but NRTC discovered that he was survived by his wife and children.

He was buried in Igbanke, Delta State.

Kunle Makinde Adetokunbo

The 50-year-old actor popularly known as Dejo Tunfulu died at General Hospital Ikorodu, Ikorodu on April 1, 2022.

The comic actor who was born in Idumota, near Lagos, Ogun State, and hailed from Ikija Abeokuta came into the limelight after his ‘Dejo’ role in the movie  ‘Aje ni Iya mi’.

The actor was buried in the Agbowa area of Ikorodu, Lagos State according to Islamic rites.

Dejo was survived by four children.

Osmond Gbadebo

The 45-year-old Nollywood actor and filmmaker’s sudden death came as a huge blow to the movie industry and Nigeria at large on the 30th of May, 2022 after battling with a terminal ailment.

The Movie Director who was survived by a child was buried at the Atan Cemetery in Lagos.

He came into the limelight in one of his popular movies, English Ede Oyinbo, which was produced in 2018.
