Nigerian music star Ayra Starr has offered fans an intimate glimpse into her growing friendship and collaborative journey with Grammy-winning artist Wizkid.
Speaking on a recent episode of E-Talk, Ayra recalled feeling overwhelmed during her first recording session with Wizkid. “I was panicking because, you know, it’s Wizkid!” she admitted. “I didn’t know what to expect. I was just thinking, ‘Don’t mess this up.'”
Despite her nerves, Ayra said Wizkid’s calm and friendly nature helped ease the tension. Their connection has since developed into a genuine friendship. “He kept saying, ‘Ayra, you’ve grown a lot! What’s the tip? He’s an amazing friend, really,” she shared, recounting playful moments from a recent video shoot.

Describing him as a “big brother,” Ayra praised the calm energy Wizkid brings, as well as their shared sense of humor. “Just being around him is peaceful. We even share the same sense of humor,” she added.
The duo’s first official collaboration, 2 Sugar, appeared on Wizkid’s 2022 album More Love, Less Ego, and highlighted the strong musical chemistry between them.
Their more recent project, Gimme Dat, which samples the iconic 911 by Wyclef Jean and Mary J. Blige, quickly resonated with listeners, debuting at number one on Spotify’s chart in Nigeria.
From a nervous studio session to chart-topping hits, Ayra Starr and Wizkid’s creative synergy continues to grow, both musically and personally.
