Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has praised his Ondo State counterpart, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, for preserving the legacy of the late former governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, particularly in sustaining funding for the Amotekun security outfit.

Makinde gave the commendation during a courtesy visit to Aiyedatiwa at the Government House in Akure.

He was in the Ondo State capital to participate in the 10th Coronation Anniversary celebrations of the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, Odundun II.

Expressing gratitude for the warm reception, Makinde emphasised the deepening ties between Oyo and Ondo states, saying the relationship would continue to flourish.

He also expressed personal affection for Ondo State, noting that his mother was a native of Akure and that he always looked forward to visiting.

The Oyo governor was accompanied by members of his entourage, including Monsurat Sunmonu, a member of the Oyo State Governor’s Advisory Council, and Bayo Lawal, Executive Adviser on General Duties.

In response, Governor Aiyedatiwa congratulated Makinde on the chieftaincy title scheduled to be conferred upon him by the Deji of Akure.

He also lauded Makinde’s developmental strides over the past six years, stressing the importance of collaboration among leaders, regardless of political affiliations.

He said: “My brother, I welcome you back home. Akure is your home and I want to congratulate you on the chieftaincy title to be conferred on you by Kabiyesi, the Deji of Akure.

“I am sure this honour is not just because you are a Governor but because you are a good leader of your people worthy of such recognition and celebration.”
