The Kwara State Government has approved a 40 percent reduction in registration fees for students in public schools sitting for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) across the state.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (CON) granted the approval as part of the administration’s efforts to make education more accessible and inclusive for all residents.

Announcing the development in Ilorin on Monday, the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Lawal Olohungbebe, said the reduction was aimed at easing the financial burden on families.

He described the move as a clear demonstration of the government’s commitment to providing quality and affordable education for parents and guardians in Kwara.

“The administration of Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has continued to show its dedication to delivering quality education that is affordable for all.

“The approval of a 40 percent reduction in BECE registration fees is a direct response to the economic challenges currently faced by many families,” Olohungbebe said.

The government’s decision is expected to provide significant relief to parents while encouraging higher enrolment and participation in the examination.
