Sanwo-Olu to commission reconstructed roads in Agege, Igando, Ikotun

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is set to commission two newly reconstructed roads in Agege and the Igando-Ikotun axis as part of his administration’s ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure and ease traffic congestion across the state.

The roads to be officially opened on Wednesday are Abaranje Road in the Igando-Ikotun Local Council Development Area (LCDA) and the Babajide Sanwo-Olu Road (formerly Old Dopemu Road) in Agege Local Government Area.

These projects are part of the 36 roads and five bridges delivered to Lagos residents in 2025 alone, reflecting the administration’s commitment to fostering economic development and improving connectivity across the state.

The reconstructed Old Dopemu Road, renamed in honour of the governor, serves as a vital bypass linking Agege and Alimosho Local Government Areas, connecting Akowonjo Road, Old Ipaja Road, and the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.

Similarly, Abaranje Road in the Igando-Ikotun LCDA is a strategic route serving multiple communities within Igando, one of the largest settlements in Alimosho.

The improved road network is expected to reduce travel time, ease traffic flow, eliminate persistent flooding, and promote commercial activities along the routes.

The state government noted that these upgrades will contribute significantly to the economic well-being of residents and further enhance transportation efficiency.

Governor Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to prioritise the completion of both new and ongoing infrastructure projects, despite prevailing economic challenges, in fulfilment of his promises to Lagosians.
