The Lagos State Government has unveiled a 24/7 digitised traffic enforcement system as part of its broader strategy to accelerate the transition into a smart city, enhance public safety, and stimulate economic growth.
The initiative was announced during the 2025 Ministerial Press Briefing held at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre, Alausa.
According to the Commissioner for Innovation, Science, and Technology, Olatubosun Alake, the project signifies a bold step towards harnessing technology for improved security, business efficiency, and revenue generation.
Alake disclosed that the system would be rolled out in phases, with intelligent video surveillance infrastructure strategically installed across key locations in Lagos.
The comprehensive deployment is aimed at improving traffic management while reinforcing public safety in the ever-expanding metropolis.
“A truly digitised city necessitates a robust synergy between physical and digital infrastructure,” he said.

Alake also outlined Lagos’ forthcoming artificial intelligence strategy, which includes the rollout of AI-powered chatbots, the integration of AI into government operations, and the introduction of state-wide AI governance guidelines to promote responsible innovation.
On cybersecurity, the commissioner revealed that the state had successfully blocked two major data breach attempts in the past year.
He noted the deployment of 109 certified Data Protection Officers across ministries and agencies as part of the government’s proactive approach to data security.

“Our commitment to digital transformation is not just about boosting efficiency—it is about ensuring the safety, prosperity, and empowerment of every Lagosian.”
He said the initiative aligns with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s vision of “A Greater Lagos Rising,” as the state continues to position itself as a digital leader in Nigeria and across Africa.
