In a major effort to drive economic inclusion and independence, the Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA) has empowered 150 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) through formal Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) business registrations and intensive enterprise development training.
The empowerment initiative, held under the theme “Beyond Limits: Building Sustainable and Compliant Enterprises”, took place on Monday at the STO Resource Centre Hall in Alausa, Ikeja.
Speaking at the event, Oluwatoyin Oke-Osayintolu, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Social Development, highlighted the state government’s ongoing commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and self-reliance within the disability community.

She noted that the program goes beyond registering business names with the CAC, focusing heavily on providing practical tools to help participants grow profitable and long-lasting enterprises.
As part of the curriculum, participants received training in entrepreneurial resilience, branding, digital visibility, financial literacy, bookkeeping, and tax compliance to ensure their businesses remain competitive and legally compliant.

Echoing this message, the General Manager of LASODA, Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, charged the newly registered business owners to prioritize excellence and high-quality service.
She emphasized that while bringing in customers is important, sustained success relies on innovation, structured operations, and maintaining client trust.
“I am confident that entrepreneurs with disabilities will contribute meaningfully to the economic development and Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of Lagos State,” Oyetunde-Lawal stated.
“I urge you all to remain resilient and determined to change the narrative through excellence.”
Addressing the female entrepreneurs in attendance, Oyetunde-Lawal specifically encouraged women to protect and expand their operations through creative strategies and disciplined financial management, noting that empowering women creates a positive ripple effect across families and local communities.
The workshop featured interactive sessions led by industry facilitators Alani Lateef Adebayo and Adetutu Adesanya Ijasan.
They guided attendees through practical lessons on digital marketing, tax obligations, bookkeeping, and regulatory adherence.

The programme forms a core part of LASODA’s broader mission to reduce financial barriers, promote equal opportunities, and build a more inclusive economy for Persons with Disabilities across Lagos State.
