The Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, has been appointed to the Board of Advisors of the Millennium Campus Network (MCN).
MCN is a prominent U.S.-based non-profit organisation that empowers student leaders globally to advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The appointment follows her recent participation in the High-Level Political Forum on the SDGs at the United Nations Headquarters in New York on July 21, 2025.
Olatunji-Bello was the sole African Vice-Chancellor invited to speak at the event.
In his appointment letter, MCN Executive Director Sam Vaghar commended the LASU Vice-Chancellor for her “civic leadership and voice” and her dedication to “elevating young civic leaders” throughout her four-decade career in higher education.

He praised the significant impact of the Millennium Fellows at Lagos State University, citing it as proof of the dynamic support provided by the university’s faculty and administration.
As a member of the Board of Advisors, Professor Olatunji-Bello will offer strategic guidance to the MCN, sharing her expertise on ethical leadership, participatory governance, and sustainable development.
Her role will also involve advocating for the network’s mission, speaking at events, and helping to connect thought leaders to further the global student movement.
In her acceptance letter, Professor Olatunji-Bello expressed her gratitude and reaffirmed her commitment to youth empowerment.
She stated that LASU would continue to be a strong supporter of the MCN’s mission to raise a new generation of ethical and collaborative leaders.
