Linda Ejiofor speaks on career struggles after AMVCA win

Nollywood actress Linda Ejiofor has opened up on a time in her career when she felt she was no longer making progress in the movie industry before later achieving a major breakthrough at the 2026 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards.

Speaking during an interview with Nolywire hosted by her husband, actor Ibrahim Suleiman, the actress said she went through a difficult period three years ago when she began to worry that her acting career had stopped growing.

According to her, she prayed to God for a change and later got opportunities that transformed her journey in the industry.

Linda also spoke about the role her husband played during that stage of her life.

She said he constantly encouraged her and reassured her about her performances in the movies she worked on, even when she personally doubted herself.

“I am so grateful to God, grateful to my husband because he stood by me through this. He told me that I did well in both movies. To be honest, I didn’t believe him,” she added.

Her career later recorded a huge success at the 12th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, which took place on May 9 at Eko Hotels & Suites.

She won the Best Lead Actress award for her role in The Serpent’s Gift and also received the Best Supporting Actress award for The Herd.

Reports about the award ceremony stated that she became the first actress to win both acting categories in the same night since the AMVCA started.

The Serpent’s Gift, directed by Kayode Kasum, is an Igbo-language movie focused on family inheritance and cultural traditions. The Herd also marked the first feature film directed by actor Daniel Etim Effiong.

Linda began her acting career on the television series Tinsel before becoming more popular after starring in The Meeting. Her role in the movie earned her the Best Supporting Actress award at the 2015 AMVCA.
