Liverpool Football Club has confirmed the departure of head coach Arne Slot, ending his tenure after two seasons that brought both triumph and transition.
Slot joined the Reds in June 2024, etched his name into club history by delivering Liverpool’s 20th league title in his very first season. That achievement earned him the LMA Manager of the Year award, while he also guided the team to the Carabao Cup final and into the Champions League knockout stages.
The following campaign saw Liverpool secure Champions League qualification once again, reaching the quarter‑finals in Europe. Beyond results, Slot was praised for his leadership and compassion, particularly during the difficult period following the loss of forward Diogo Jota.
Liverpool’s ownership described him as “a coach who delivered Liverpool’s 20th league title,” adding that his contribution had been “significant, meaningful, and successful.” They also highlighted his work ethic and humanity, noting that he “embraced responsibility” from the moment he took charge.

At the same time, the board acknowledged the need for change. “We have collectively come to the conclusion that change is necessary in order for the club to keep moving forward,” the statement explained, stressing that the decision was not a reflection of Slot’s talents but of the team’s trajectory.
Slot departs with gratitude from the board and supporters, leaving Anfield with his legacy intact. The club emphasized that he and his family will always be welcomed back, and wished him success in the next stage of his coaching career.
The process to appoint a successor is already underway, with Liverpool determined to build on the foundation Slot leaves behind.
