Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) skipper Marquinhos has sounded the battle cry ahead of Saturday’s UEFA Champions League final clash against Inter Milan.
The veteran Brazilian defender declared that his team must rise to the occasion with the performance of a lifetime. The final, set for the Allianz Arena, presents PSG with another golden opportunity to clinch their first-ever Champions League crown.
Having fallen short in the 2020 final against Bayern Munich, PSG are determined not to let history repeat itself. However, standing in their way is a formidable Inter Milan side chasing a fourth European title. Despite PSG entering the tie as favourites, Marquinhos stressed that nothing would be handed to them and that his teammates must earn their moment in history.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, the Brazilian centre-back acknowledged the pressure but urged a calm, focused approach. “This is a second chance for me,” he said. “We need to keep the younger players grounded and concentrate on the small details. That’s where big games are won.”

Crucially, Marquinhos is the only likely starter from PSG’s 2020 final appearance, giving him a unique perspective on redemption. Moreover, he highlighted how Luis Enrique’s arrival has instilled mental toughness in the squad, particularly when dealing with high-stakes moments.
“We’ve learned to manage our emotions for 90 minutes,” he added. “Even in difficult phases, we always bounce back. That belief will guide us against Inter.” Notably, Inter were also underdogs when they knocked out European giants Bayern Munich and Barcelona earlier in the competition.
While fans expect a tactical chess match, Marquinhos promised PSG wouldn’t stray from the identity that brought them to this point. “We’ll stick to our style, but we’ve worked hard defensively and prepared for their threats,” he said. “Their strikers and pacy wingers are dangerous, but we’re ready.”
As both sides eye European glory, Marquinhos believes it will be a battle of mentality, courage, and execution. Above all, he’s confident that if PSG stay true to themselves, this could be the night that redefines their legacy forever.
