Nigerian political economist, Kingsley Chiedu Moghalu, has said he would not pay the sum of $8 [3,684.24] monthly blue tick of popular microblogging site, Twitter.
The former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria made this known via his Twitter handle on Thursday.
Moghalu said life goes on, adding that paying $8 was not the same thing as getting a blue tick as recognition.
Moghalu tweeted: “Goodbye to my Twitter blue tick. Life goes on. No, I won’t be paying $8 a month. It’s not the same thing as getting it as recognition.”
Recall that Twitter Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Elon Musk had announced that the final date for the free Blue badge removal was April 20th, 2023.
The popular microblogging site, Twitter has begun the removal of thousands of verification check marks with some public figures.

A check through some public figures handles by NRTC shows that most of them have lost their blue ticks.
Few that their blue were absent were Pope Francis, former president Donald Trump, Femi Otedola, Tony Elumelu, singers Justin Bieber, Davido, Wizkid, Burma Boy, Katy Perry and soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and others.
