“My strong pillar” – Sanwo-Olu hails wife Ibijoke on 59th birthday

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has showered glowing encomiums on his wife, Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, as she celebrates her 59th birthday today (Thursday).

Sanwo-Olu in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, described the First Lady as a “dependable and reliable partner” whose support has been instrumental in the success of his administration’s THEMES+ development agenda.

Mrs Sanwo-Olu, a medical doctor with over 25 years of experience in the state civil service, was hailed by her husband for her multifaceted roles as a mother, a passionate Christian, and a committed advocate for the vulnerable.

The governor emphasised that her contributions extend far beyond their private home.Leveraging her medical background to improve maternal and child health across the state.

Serving as the Chairman of the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials, where she has spearheaded numerous community empowerment projects and used her office to ensure the “dividends of democracy” reach millions of Lagosians.

Sanwo-Olu, whose own 59th birthday was celebrated just months ago in June, noted that they have walked together as a couple for over two decades.

He expressed deep gratitude for her sacrifices and her role as a “prayer warrior” for the state.

“Ibijoke is a God-fearing woman, a good companion, and a caring and loving wife and mother,” the governor stated.

“On this occasion of her 59th birthday, I thank God for her life and appreciate her for all the support, time, sacrifice, and contributions to the growth and development of Lagos State.”

The First Lady’s 59th year follows a series of high-impact activities, including her recent New Year’s Day tour of state hospitals to welcome the First Babies of 2026.

As she enters her 60th year, supporters and state officials have flooded social media with tributes, acknowledging her as the mother of the state.
