Legendary goalkeeper Peter Rufai has died at 61.

Nigeria’s football community has been plunged into mourning following the reported death of Super Eagles legend Peter Rufai.

The 61-year-old former goalkeeper reportedly passed away on the morning of Thursday, July 3, 2025, after battling a long-term illness that had kept him away from the public for an extended period.

Though the family has yet to release an official statement, a senior Lagos State Government official confirmed the news, as reported by Radio Nigeria.
