Comedian AY Makun has stepped forward in support of music icon 2Baba, following the singer’s recent public apology to his partner, children, and fans.
2Baba had earlier sparked debate when he suggested that men were not naturally built for monogamy. However, he later retracted the statement and issued an apology, acknowledging the emotional weight of his words.
Weighing in on the matter, AY Makun urged the public to show compassion towards celebrities, reminding people that fame doesn’t strip individuals of their humanity. He highlighted how men are often taught to bottle up their emotions and are misunderstood when they finally choose to speak.

“It’s always easy to cast the first stone at the supposed offender. No one pauses to ask him the most human question ‘Are you okay?’ And when they do, it’s rarely without an agenda. No one really cares,” AY said.
“I just saw a man under duress taking accountability for his actions. Not because he’s perfect, but because he’s human. As men, we’re raised to suffer in silence. Whether we’re right or wrong, we’re told to ‘man up.’ Even when we finally speak, it rarely ends well. We’re blamed. Misunderstood. Dismissed.
“Our vulnerability doesn’t protect us. It exposes us. Na who them catch na him be thief.”
In his caption, AY took a broader swipe at societal distractions and expectations, writing: “The things that truly matter in society often go unnoticed. I believe the government should start awarding entertainers with special bonuses for consistently helping to shift Nigerians’ focus away from issues that don’t contribute to their growth. Make una continue to pay attention to people wey don personally hustle to settle themselves. Dey play!”
