Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, known as Tems, has revealed that women still face challenges in gaining respect in the country’s music industry.

She said her early career was marked by difficulties in being taken seriously due to her gender.

The singer shared in an interview with BBC that she is working to change how women view themselves in music through her newly launched platform, The Leading Vibe Initiative.

According to her, the project is designed to give women better access to opportunities, a wider audience, and improved chances of success.
