Damilola Sholademi, Nigeria’s most decorated archer, has secured the Silver medal at the 57th USA Archery Indoor National Championships, delivering a standout performance as the sole African representative in the competition.
The compound bow expert finished second in his division at the February 21-23 event held in Fiskdale, Massachusetts. This marks his second consecutive runner-up finish at the prestigious national tournament.
Sholademi began his archery journey during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020. Since then, he has rapidly ascended to become Nigeria’s most accomplished archer across all bow categories.
He currently holds the number seven ranking in Africa for compound bow. In the United States, he stands ranked second in the state of Massachusetts.
His international medal count now exceeds 43. This includes silver medals at the African Continental Archery Championships in 2022 and 2023, which marked Nigeria’s first-ever continental archery podium finishes.
