Veteran Nollywood actor and screenwriter Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, will be buried in his hometown of Ilaro, Ogun State, on Monday, August 24, 2026.
Hassan died on Sunday, August 23, at the age of 66.
His death was announced by fellow veteran actor Jide Kosoko, who disclosed that the actor passed away around 3 p.m.
Following his death, preparations were immediately made to take his remains to Ilaro, where family members, friends, colleagues and members of the community are expected to gather for his final rites.
A lying-in-state ceremony has been scheduled for Monday at the Pavillon in Ilaro.

The burial prayer is expected to take place at the Asade Agunloye Pavilion Ground, with the Chief Imam of Ilaro set to lead the proceedings.

The Ilaro Muslim Community also announced plans for the burial, confirming that members of the community would gather to pay their final respects to the late actor.
Hassan’s death came shortly after his family appealed for medical support as he battled stage-four cancer.
His daughters, Kaira and Lima Taiwo, had earlier turned to social media to seek assistance and medical advice concerning their father’s condition.
The family had disclosed that doctors were no longer able to continue with chemotherapy because of the state of his health.
Despite efforts to get further medical care, the actor eventually passed away on Sunday.
Ogogo was one of the well-known faces in Yoruba-language cinema and spent many years building a career as an actor and screenwriter.
He became popular for his roles in Yoruba films and was respected by many colleagues and fans within the Nigerian film industry.
His death has left members of the Yoruba film community and his supporters mourning the loss of a veteran whose career spanned several decades.
He is survived by his children, family members, colleagues and other loved ones who are expected to gather in Ilaro for his burial on Monday.
