Politics: FULL LIST: Jide Kosoko, Eniola Badmus, others join 2027 Lagos APC campaign council
NRTC WEEKLY learnt that the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has appointed several prominent figures in Nigeria’s entertainment industry to its campaign council ahead of its planned inauguration.
Veteran actor Jide Kosoko, Nollywood actresses Eniola Badmus and Bimbo Akintola, as well as Fuji musicians Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, Abass Akande Obesere and Adewale Ayuba, are among the entertainers listed under the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate of the campaign council.
The names were contained in the full membership list released by the Kadri Obafemi Hamzat Media Centre on Thursday, September 17, 2026.

The campaign council is scheduled to be inaugurated on Friday, September 18, at the APC Secretariat on ACME Road, Ikeja, Lagos.
Business/Economy: Obi rejects Anambra debt claims, says ₦2.13bn ecological fund was untouched
NRTC WEEKLY reports that Former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi has rejected claims that his administration left behind financial liabilities, including a ₦2 billion ecological loan, unpaid contractor bills and outstanding salaries, pensions and gratuities.
The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) described the allegations by the Anambra State Government as false, saying his administration cleared historical arrears and gratuities worth more than ₦35 billion before handing over power in 2014.
He said the state had no outstanding salary, pension or gratuity obligations at the end of his tenure and that his administration did not owe contractors whose projects had been completed and certified.

Leading Stories: FG condoles with Niger State over Wushishi mining operation tragedy, vows uncompromising probe
NRTC WEEKLY gathered that the Federal Government has formally expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of lives involving individuals arrested during law enforcement operations against suspected illegal mining activities within the Wushishi/Lukoto axis of Niger State.
The Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, conveyed the sincere condolences of the Federal Government to the Governor of Niger State, Mohammed Umaru Bago, as well as the entire Government and people of the State.
Idris extended these sympathies to the traditional leadership and residents of Wushishi, paying special tribute to the grieving families and loved ones of those who lost their lives in the unfortunate encounter.
Sports: Super Eagles squads announced for AFCON qualifiers and Russia clash
NRTC WEEKLY gathered that Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has named two separate 24-man squads for Nigeria’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau, and a subsequent international friendly against Russia.
The Nigeria Football Federation released the squad lists on Thursday, marking the beginning of Nigeria’s campaign to reach the tournament in East Africa.
The Super Eagles will host Madagascar at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Friday, 25 September. Nigeria then travel to Bissau for a matchday two encounter against Guinea-Bissau four days later on Tuesday, 29 September. The Super Eagles will then face Russia at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium on Tuesday, 6 October in an international friendly.
Entertainment: Nollywood actor Olu Jacobs is dead
NRTC WEEKLY learnt that veteran Nigerian actor and film executive, Oludotun Baiyewu Jacobs, popularly known as Olu Jacobs, has died at the age of 84.Book Movie TicketsJacobs’ death was by his son, Olusoji Jacobs, in a post shared on Instagram on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.
The family announced his death with a tribute describing him as “The Lion of Lufodo” and appealed to bloggers and social media influencers to respect their privacy during the mourning period.
