NRTC WEEKLY gathered that many Nigerians were happy about securing a win, especially against their rivals, Ghana, comparing it to a revenge World Cup qualifier.

Die-hard fans of the Super Eagles were concerned with the overall quality of play rather than just the win, NRTC WEEKLY gathered.

This win  was seen as a positive step  towards future tournaments

Entertainment: Davido and Pinnick

Social media went agog as singer Davido and Amaju Pinnick, former president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) agreed to settle out of court over the breach of contract lawsuit filed by Pinnick.

Davido and Pinnick

Pinnick in October 2023, called out Davido for not fulfilling his performance obligations at an event in Warri, Delta State, despite receiving $94,600.

Brownhill Investments Company Limited filed the suit marked EHC/183/2023 before the Delta State High Court in Effurun. The firm initiated the legal action against Davido, seeking N2.3bn in damages.

Many see the settlement out of court as a development and relief for the duo to avoid a lengthy court battle while some see it as a sensible solution, saving both parties time and money.

NRTC WEEKLY gathered that following the settlement, Davido agreed to make a live performance at the upcoming ‘Warri Again’ concert on 4 October 2024.

It was also decided that the $94,500, which the claimant had already paid to the defendants, would be considered payment for the event’s performance.

Politics: Ahead of Ondo Poll

The upcoming governorship election in Ondo State is generating a lot of buzz. The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is on the verge of conducting its primary election with top aspirants.

NRTC WEEKLY gathered that the talk is about who’ll secure the party’s ticket to run for the governorship race.

Eyitayo Jegede, a prominent figure in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the party’s candidate in the 2016 and 2020 elections, surprised many by withdrawing from the race, a decision that opened the door for other PDP aspirants.

The upcoming Ondo gubernatorial election promises to be an exciting one as the public watches closely to see who will emerge victorious.

Business: Economy hardship

Nigerians continued to face economic hardship with a mix of resilience and frustration.  Rising food prices lead to mutterings of “God will provide” at markets, while crowded buses hum with complaints about transportation costs.

NRTC WEEKLY gathered that some take on extra work, while others express their anger through online jokes or protests. The Nigerian spirit is strong, but the strain of hardship is undeniable.

Here, the cotton of this week’s episode of NRTC WEEKLY will drop. Join us for another edition next week as we explore the trending stories in Nigeria.
