Ogunmuyiwa assumes office as DG of OEQA

Sulaimon Ogunmuyiwa has assumed office as the new Director-General of the Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA).

The resumption was marked by a celebratory atmosphere at the Agency’s headquarters, where management, staff, and various education sector stakeholders gathered to welcome the new helmsman.

The event featured prayers from both Muslim and Christian traditions, alongside thanksgiving and goodwill messages from the six Education Districts of Lagos State.

During the reception, Ogunmuyiwa expressed his commitment to the state’s T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda, promising to “hit the ground running” to strengthen quality assurance across basic and secondary education levels.

“I am truly humbled by the expectations and encouragement from colleagues, friends, associates and well-wishers… I am fully committed to putting my thinking cap on and giving my very best in service to Lagos State.”

He outlined two core focus areas for his tenure: strengthening quality assurance frameworks and improving learning outcomes for students across the state.

Ogunmuyiwa extended his gratitude to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat for the opportunity to serve.

He also acknowledged the support of several key officials: Bode Agoro, Head of Service, Jamiu Alli-Balogun, Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education and Abisola Dokunmu-Adegbite, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education.

The event was a family affair, attended by his mother, Ramota Ogunmuyiwa, and his wife, Kudirat Ogunmuyiwa, alongside Coordinating Directors and Evaluators from the OEQA.

Stakeholders expressed high confidence that his leadership would align perfectly with the governor’s vision for a smarter and more resilient education system in Lagos.
