Emmanuel Osigwe says he is determined to reshape Kun Khalifat into a more disciplined and competitive side as they continue their first-ever NPFL campaign.
The former Nigeria striker stepped in after the suspension of Obinna Uzoho, which followed a tense 1-1 draw with Nasarawa United in Owerri.
His arrival, though sudden, already appears to be steering the debutants in a steadier direction. The veteran has taken charge of two matches, and his early numbers show encouraging growth.
Kun Khalifat earned a 1-1 draw away to Warri Wolves before defeating Plateau United 2-0 in Owerri. Those results brought four points from a possible six and has created optimism among supporters. Osigwe believes the momentum can continue, especially as the club prepares for a tricky Matchday 16 clash with Kano Pillars in Katsina. He stressed that the team is still evolving but insisted that the foundations are already being strengthened.

Osigwe explained that his task involves detailed assessment and reorganisation. “Four points from two games isn’t a bad return for now,” he said.
He added that the team must keep improving across all departments to meet its objectives. The tactician, born in Imo State, emphasised that his approach focuses on clarity and structure. “I’m trying to rejig the team and identify which positions best suit each player,” he noted.
According to him, this process ensures that the team aligns properly with his playing philosophy. To aid that transition, regular training games have become essential. “We played a friendly before facing Warri Wolves,” Osigwe revealed.
He also confirmed that another warm-up match has been arranged against Giant Brillars FC as final preparation before the trip to Katsina.
Osigwe, a CAF B Coaching License holder, is confident that these measures will keep the players sharp. He insists that only consistent work will help Kun Khalifat sustain the energy needed to survive their maiden top-flight journey.
