Governor Ademola Adeleke has commended the ongoing Osogbo stadium upgrade, saying capacity will rise from 4,000 to 15,000 after remodelling.
In a statement signed by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, on Monday, April 20, Adeleke said the Osogbo stadium upgrade will help Osun host local and international events.
“Upon completion, Osun will be qualified to host local and international events,” the governor said. “Our young population will have big supportive platform to develop their talents.”
Adeleke added that foreign technical partners are working with contractors to ensure the Osogbo stadium upgrade meets FIFA standards.

“In remodelling the stadium, we must satisfy global standards,” he said. “This is the way to go to finally integrate Osun into the mainstream of sports development.”
Meanwhile, he added that efforts are underway to operationalize the Osun Sport Trust Fund and the Osun State Sport Commission to address sector challenges.
“As a sport loving governor, I am eager to ensure that the Osun Sport Trust Fund become operational. We are working round the clock to meet legal requirements,” Adeleke said.

The governor also commended Deputy Governor Prince Kola Adewusi for his commitment to the project.
