Oyebanji commends Tinubu over road infrastructure in Ekiti

Ekiti Governor Oyebanji

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has lauded President Bola Tinubu for his administration’s investment in federal road infrastructure within the state, stating that the President has exceeded his initial promises to the people of Ekiti.

During a courtesy visit on Tuesday from the state chapter of the Pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, the governor highlighted several multi-billion-naira projects that are set to transform the state’s economic landscape.

Oyebanji noted that the federal government’s intervention has drastically improved connectivity between Ekiti and its neighbours.

He pointed out that the travel time between Akure and Ado-Ekiti has been reduced to just 35 minutes due to recent improvements.

The governor detailed several key infrastructure projects approved by the President to boost development across the state.

Among them is the Osun State Border–Aramoko Road, a N153 billion project that will feature durable concrete pavement designed to withstand heavy traffic and improve connectivity.

He also noted that the rehabilitation of the Ado-Iworoko–Ifaki Federal Road has recently been completed, easing transportation challenges for commuters and businesses.

In addition, the reconstruction of the Aramoko-Ijero-Ido Road has been approved and directed by the President, while work on the Omuo–Ikole–Ifaki Road has also received approval to enhance regional trade and economic activities.

The governor further highlighted ongoing efforts to link Ekiti State to the Osogbo rail line, a move expected to strengthen rail connectivity and stimulate economic growth in the region.

“Mr President has fulfilled more than he promised us,” Oyebanji stated. “When you accumulate all these things, he has done well for us. I am not against politics, but people shouldn’t play politics with facts.”

The visit served as a platform for the Ekiti chapter of Afenifere, led by Chairman Elder Yemi Alade, to endorse both Tinubu and Oyebanji for second terms in office.

Alade praised the governor’s “Shared Prosperity” agenda, highlighting what he described as the administration’s notable achievements.

He commended the consistent payment of workers’ salaries and pensions, noting that it has brought stability and renewed confidence among civil servants and retirees.

He also pointed to the impactful infrastructural development projects executed across the three senatorial districts, which he said have improved connectivity and boosted economic activities.

In addition, Alade lauded the government’s vibrant agricultural policies as well as its youth and women empowerment schemes, stating that these initiatives are fostering inclusive growth and sustainable development.

“Afenifere resolved to organise the endorsement programme as pace-setting,” Alade said, adding that the group remains “solidly” behind the Governor to ensure a resounding victory in the upcoming elections.

Oyebanji described Afenifere as the “custodian of Yoruba traditional and political values,” thanking them for their meticulous approach to governance.

He also used the opportunity to urge citizens to remain grateful for the developments in the state, cautioning against “ignorant” narratives that portray the state as unappreciative of federal support.

The governor reaffirmed his commitment to the principle of party supremacy and promised to continue delivering policies that improve the socio-economic lives of Ekiti residents.
