Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to reforming the state’s education system, describing it as the most critical investment for the state’s citizens.
The governor made this commitment while officially receiving Anifowose Oluwaseyi, an Ekiti-born teacher who recently secured a Guinness World Record, GWR, for organising the largest gathering of teachers in the world.
The event took place at the governor’s office in Ado-Ekiti.
Oyebanji stated that his government is deliberately implementing reforms designed to ensure education in Ekiti is globally competitive and responsive to contemporary realities.
He stressed the necessity for continuous upgrades to teaching methodologies, curriculum content, and learning environments to produce citizens equipped to succeed in a knowledge-driven economy.

He further elaborated that the focus of his administration’s education ecosystem is a three-pronged balance: quality teaching, relevant curriculum, and a conducive learning environment.
This vision, he noted, is encapsulated within the Human Capital Development pillar of his government’s six-point agenda.
“We have been deliberate in ensuring that we create an ecosystem that strikes a balance between what you teach, how you teach it, and where you teach it because we believe strongly that the future of education rests on those pillars,” Oyebanji said.

He added that through the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and the Ministry of Education, the government has been upgrading infrastructure, recalibrating the curriculum for the 21st century, and prioritising the welfare of teachers.
Congratulating Anifowose, the governor hailed the record-breaking feat, which involved over 15,000 teachers from across the country and beyond, as a testament to Ekiti’s renowned intellectual prowess and deep respect for education.
“I congratulate you on behalf of the Ekiti people,” the governor stated. “Thank you for the honour you have done to Ekiti and for also lifting up the teaching profession,” which he called one of the noblest professions.
He assured that his government would continue to recognise and support indigenes who bring distinction to the state, noting that Anifowose’s achievement aligns perfectly with his goal of transforming education into a tool for empowerment, innovation, and sustainable development.
Earlier, Anifowose expressed gratitude to Oyebanji for the audience, viewing it as evidence of the governor’s authentic commitment to the state’s educational progress.
While presenting the Guinness World Record plaque, Anifowose explained that his record-setting event was more than just a numbers game; it was designed to give teachers a voice and recognise their indispensable role in nation-building.
