Terem Moffi Completes Loan Switch to Portuguese Giants FC Porto

FC Porto has signed Nigerian international striker Terem Moffi on loan from French club OGC Nice. The agreement includes an option for a permanent transfer set at eight million euros.

The 26-year-old forward joined the Portuguese giants for the remainder of the season. Porto confirmed the loan deal involved no fee. An official club statement detailed the optional buy clause. Moffi will wear the number 29 shirt for his new team.

A Calculated Move for Player and Club

This transfer gives Moffi a fresh start after a challenging period. A significant incident marred his final months at Nice. Following a string of poor team results, Moffi was physically attacked by disgruntled supporters in late November. This prompted his immediate departure from the French Riviera.

Moffi arrives in Portugal with a proven goalscoring record. He established himself in France with FC Lorient, scoring 34 league goals in 87 appearances. His form earned a major move to Nice in January 2023.

His time at Nice began promisingly. He finished the 2023-24 season as the club’s top Ligue 1 scorer with 11 goals. However, his progress was disrupted by a serious knee injury in 2024. Moffi will now aim to rediscover his best form in Portugal’s Primeira Liga.

The striker has also earned 19 caps for Nigeria’s national team, the Super Eagles. He represented his country at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
