Premier league signing of the season 2023/2024

The 2023/2024 premier league season has been a most remarkable one in terms of general quality. Last summer saw Premier League clubs spend about £2.36 billion in transfers with Todd Boehly’s Chelsea leading the pack.

As the season nears a close with many teams engrossed in title battles, getting out of the relegation spots or settling for a mid-table spot, here are some of the best signings that have heavily impacted their respective team campaigns so far.

Alexis Mac Allister

The Argentinian midfielder joined Liverpool from Brighton and Hove Albion in the quest to rebuild their much overdue midfield. Joined by Dominik Szoboslai, Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch in making a summer switch to the Merseyside coast.

The world cup winner has been a true revelation either in the six role or further forward. As Jurgen Klopp’s time with the club gradually comes to an end, he’s quickly taking ground as a favourite amongst the Liverpool fanbase. Also registering stunners against Fulham and Sheffield United as they continue their three-horse title race. 

Declan Rice

The former Hammers captain joined the North-London outfit for a club record £105 million. Seemingly the last piece of the Mikel Arteta puzzle at the base of midfield.

His arrival provided a different edge to Thomas Partey’s constant injury concerns and Italian midfielder Jorginho. Rice has settled in effortlessly kick-starting his time with the FA community shield triumph over Manchester City.

The English midfielder has become a vital cog of this gunners team and undoubtedly might have a shout come the premier league end of season awards.

Cole Palmer

21-year-old Palmer switched to West-London from defending champions Manchester City. While much hype didn’t follow the transfer, he’s gone on to be arguably the best transfer of the Todd Boehly era.

Chelsea FC summer signing, Mohamed Kudus

In Chelsea’s abysmal season, he’s been the lone bright spot attempting to lift the club on every occasion popping up with important goal involvements across the season. His hat-trick against Manchester United rounded up a win for Chelsea in the death of the game to further establish his credentials.

Ghanaian midfielder Kudus joined David Moyes side from Dutch side AFC Ajax even with initial interest from English heavyweights Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United.

He initially found it difficult to nail down a starting spot with the defending UEFA conference league champions. Now, he’s formed a cohesive and flowing attacking unit with English forward Jarrod Bowen and Brazilian playmaker Lucas Paqueta.

His top form has been essential to West Ham United’s charge for an European spot via the league campaign and a shot at UEFA Europa league glory.

Micky van de Ven

Tottenham Hotspur pipped Liverpool and Bayern Munich in the race for the £34.5 million defender. The Dutch defender this season already recorded the fastest sprint known till date in the PL history.

While a hamstring injury almost affected his campaign, he’s been crucial to implementing Ange Postecoglou’s efficient high defensive line.
