Politics: 2027: APC chair pledges more leadership roles for women

NRTC WEEKLY gathered that the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has reaffirmed the party’s commitment to ensuring greater representation for women in both elective and appointive positions in the next political cycle.

Yilwatda made this declaration yesterday, while receiving a high-powered delegation of the party’s women wing at the APC National Headquarters in Wuse II, Abuja.

The delegation, led by the National Women Leader, Mary Alile Idele, included zonal and state women leaders from across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

Business/Economy: CBN raises N1.457trn at June NTB auction

NRTC WEEKLY learnt that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) raised N1.457 trillion at its Treasury bills auction on June 3, 2026.

The bank increased stop rates across all tenors despite strong investor demand that exceeded N2.16 trillion.

The CBN offered N100 billion each for the 91-day and 182-day bills, and N800 billion for the 364-day bill.

Subscriptions reached N2.16 trillion, more than double the total offer size. The 364-day bill alone attracted N1.946 trillion in bids.

Leading Stories: Federal workers reject N100,000 minimum wage proposal

NRTC WEEKLY reported that the Federal Workers Forum has rejected the proposed N100,000 national minimum wage, describing it as inadequate to address the economic challenges facing Nigerian workers.

The position was contained in a communiqué issued after a meeting and opinion poll held on Saturday to discuss hardship, wages and insecurity across the country.

The communiqué was signed by the forum’s National Coordinator, Andrew Emelieze, National Secretary, Ayo Ogundele, and National Mobilisation Officer, Aminu Yerima.

According to the forum, federal workers continue to face rising living costs, unpaid entitlements and worsening insecurity despite government assurances on workers’ welfare.

Sports: Super Falcons gear up for Senegal test ahead of WAFCON 2026

NRTC WEEKLY gathered that African champions Nigeria’s Super Falcons have commenced preparations for their upcoming international friendly matches against Senegal.

Head coach Justine Madugu has named a 23-player squad for the double-header, with players expected to begin arriving at camp on Monday (today), according to the team’s media officer.

The Remo Stars Sports Complex, Ikenne now becomes the heartbeat of Nigeria’s preparations for the crucial continental assignment.

Both fixtures will be held at the venue with the first match scheduled for Friday, June 5, while the second encounter will take place on Monday, June 8.

Entertainment: Gospel singer Yinka Alaseyori apologises over remarks on Oyo school abduction

NRTC WEEKLY learnt that popular gospel singer Yinka Alaseyori has apologised following backlash over her comments on the abduction of pupils and teachers in Oyo State.

In a video shared on her Instagram page on Wednesday, the gospel artiste addressed concerns raised by Nigerians, saying she was sorry that her earlier remarks were interpreted as being insensitive to the suffering of the victims and their families.

Alaseyori stated that she never intended to minimise the seriousness of the kidnapping incident or disregard the emotions of those directly affected.
