Rapper Illbliss has called on Nigerians to be more accepting of people from other ethnic backgrounds living within their states, urging citizens to avoid divisive and inflammatory comments against non-indigenes.
Speaking on a recent episode of the Outside The Box podcast, the “Aiye Po Gan” rapper pointed to the presence of Igbo traders and business owners in Lagos as an example of how non-indigenes contribute significantly to local development, especially in commerce and trade.
He stressed that despite longstanding co-existence among Nigeria’s diverse ethnic groups, the country still struggles with tribalism and religious intolerance, which he described as deeply unfortunate.

According to him, the economic impact of the Igbo community in Lagos is undeniable, questioning what the state would look like without their contributions.

“The Igbos have given a lot to the Lagos economy in terms of trade and commerce. I wonder how this town will be if you told every Igbo man to leave. So, I’m always shocked whenever I hear comments like, ‘If you’re not from Lagos State, go back to your state.’
“We have no business being where we are as a country. We have no business not being accommodating of each other. But sadly, we are still plagued by tribalism, ethnic and religious divides,” Illbliss remarked.
He further expressed concern that Nigeria’s persistent divisions sometimes make him question the foundation of the country as a single national entity.
