Real Madrid has announced that Kylian Mbappé has suffered a hamstring injury in his left leg, raising serious doubts about his availability for the upcoming El Clásico against Barcelona.
In a medical report shared on the club’s official X account, the statement read, “Following the tests carried out today on our player Kylian Mbappé by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the semitendinosus muscle in his left leg. Awaiting progress.”
Mbappé sustained the injury during Friday’s 1–1 draw with Real Betis and was substituted early. While Madrid have not provided a recovery timeline, Spanish outlets report that his chances of featuring against Barcelona on May 10 are slim.

The setback comes at a critical stage of the season, with Madrid trailing Barcelona by 11 points in La Liga. A defeat in El Clásico could mathematically hand the Catalans the title.
Mbappé has scored more than 40 goals in all competitions this season, underlining his importance to the team.
His absence would be a major blow for Álvaro Arbeloa, who is already without Éder Militão and Arda Güler.
