The Rivers State Government has denied owing the state chapter of the Nigerian Legion, saying it has fully paid all financial pledges and donations made to the organisation.
The government clarified a statement by Juliana Masi, Head of the Information and Public Relations Unit in the Office of the Secretary to the State Government.

According to the statement, the state government has no outstanding financial obligation to the organisation.

It added that Governor Siminalayi Fubara had fulfilled the financial commitment he made during the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance and Celebration.
The government also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting ex-servicemen, veterans, widows and families of fallen heroes under Fubara’s administration.
It urged members of the public to disregard reports suggesting that the state government still owed the Nigerian Legion money from its previous pledges.

The government further acknowledged the sacrifices of military veterans and fallen heroes, promising to sustain programmes aimed at protecting the welfare, dignity and wellbeing of ex-servicemen and their dependents across the state.
