Shooting Stars Sports Club assistant coach Akin Olowokere has died after collapsing during a morning training session in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.

Some reports indicated a possible spike in blood pressure as a factor, though no official cause had been released by the time of reporting.

Olowokere, a former Sunshine Stars player, had later built a coaching career in Nigerian football. His appointment at Shooting Stars was considered a key step in the club’s plan.

The tragedy has disrupted the club’s pre-season programme and cast uncertainty over its NPFL campaign preparations.

Tributes have come from football fans, players, and coaching colleagues nationwide. Many have praised his dedication to player development and commitment to the sport.

The club has not yet announced funeral arrangements.
