The social media buzz this past week had the business mogul Bozoma Saint John’s name in the mouth of many, especially after the past few episodes of the five star reality TV show, “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”.
Bozoma Saint John’s biography
Bozoma Saint John, also called Boz for short, is a businessperson and Marketing Executive born in Middletown, Connecticut, in the United States of America on January 21st, 1977. She moved to Ghana with her parents six months after she was born and would eventually return to the United States when she was 12. She schooled in Middletown, where she was born, and graduated with a degree in English and African-American studies from Wesleyan University.

When Bozoma’s CV was shared online, it was nothing short of excellent. She worked in the marketing department of reputable international brands, climbing the ladder of her career at a geometric rate.
Now, this is where the story gets interesting and the big question of “how did the incredible Bozoma Saint John transition from an English graduate to a Marketing Executive?” After college, she worked at the advertising agencies, Arnold Worldwide and Spike DDB. She then worked with the notable fashion brand Ashley Stewart, where she eventually became the vice president of Marketing for the brand. This was practically how her marketing career took off.

Some years later, in 2005 precisely Boz landed the role of a senior marketing manager for the famous soft drink brand Pepsico. This was the beginning of a major success as PepsiCo was a huge brand. She eventually led the brand’s foray into music festival-based marketing as Head of Music and Entertainment Marketing. This later became of great advantage when she left Pepsico for Beats Music later in 2014. She was recruited for her successful run as an experienced music marketer for Pepsico and moved from New York to LA.
A major acquisition took place between Beats Music and Apple shortly after making her the head of global consumer marketing for both Apple Music and iTunes. This marked a pivotal moment in Boz’s career as she helped redefine and reshape Apple Music into what it is now, especially after the 2016 Apple Worldwide Developers Conference.
A year later, in 2017, she became chief brand officer of Uber. She, however, quit exactly a year later after she encountered some problems and went to work for Endeavour. In 2020, she was announced as Netflix’s New chief marketing officer. She went ahead to become the first black C-level employee at Netflix. She eventually departed Netflix in 2022.
