May may favour us in terms of movies because we have quite a lineup of great movies to be released. Something from Marvel, then the last call of the popular Mission: Impossible franchise, and also a remake of the Karate Kid.

Thunderbolts (May 2)

You miss the Avengers? Then, you should watch the Thunderbolts. It feels like the liaison of all Marvel’s underdogs or alter egos of the Avengers, all except Loki. MCU took the initiative to give their fans a movie that simulates the Avengers feel. Before we get another Avengers sequel, we have the Thunderbolts.

Thunderbolts is not a mediocre version of the Avengers but a great movie made from the beauty from ashes character in MCU. Thunderbolts brings a new level of dysfunction to the MCU. Staffed by fallen crusaders,  one-time assassins and a guy named Bob, this superhero team is barely super and, most of the time, hardly heroic.

Final Destination: Bloodlines (May 16)

I must say I loved the synchrony of the actions of the scene featured in the trailer. It is also a representation of how nature bows to the dictates of fate, causing one action to lead to action, all bursting into fruition just at the same time. You can sense from the atmosphere that something bad is about to happen, but you won’t know from where. The movie has this immersive storytelling approach. I would not term this movie as horror rather supernatural and mystical.

Mission: Impossible- The Final Reckoning (May 23)

Tom Cruise is the only one who takes his job seriously. Tell me why he continues to catapult our hearts with his Mission: Impossible franchise. The movie has a significant following since its first sequel in 1996, and eight sequels later, we are still here. If you are like me, who has to start watching the whole franchise again to brush up on their knowledge, do so before May 23, 2025. After a lot of release postponement, it is finally here.

Tom Cruise only gets better with age as he is not slacking on his action on this one. This sequel is star-studded with a lot of twists we can sense from the trailer. Let us see the impossible mission Ethan is about to make seemingly possible in this sequel.

Karate Kid: Legends (May 30)

Over the years, we have been having movies titled as the Karate Kid since 1984. While I cannot rate any as best or worst, the previous one starring Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith still gained ground to this day. Now, there is another chance to see Jackie Chan play his role as Sensei for another kid, which gains a lot of attention. The demographic of folks watching this year’s Karate Kid might be the older Gen Zs who want to compare the last movie to this
