The Derby d’Italia lived up to its billing on Saturday night as Juventus defeated Inter Milan 4-3 in a pulsating clash that had everything – drama, goals, sibling rivalry, and a late wonder strike.

Both Khephren and Marcus Thuram sealed their names onto the scoresheet in a family affair, but it was teenage substitute Vasilije Adzic who stole the spotlight with a stunning winner deep into stoppage time.

Juventus, chasing a third straight league victory, started with intensity and were rewarded when former Bournemouth and Newcastle defender Lloyd Kelly opened the scoring in the 14th minute.

The Englishman’s composed volley gave Juve the early edge, though Inter quickly responded. Hakan Calhanoglu equalised with a powerful strike from distance, only for Kenan Yildiz to restore the hosts’ advantage with another emphatic finish.

Sibling rivalry steals the spotlight

The second half swung wildly as Inter’s Calhanoglu grabbed his second with a breathtaking volley from the edge of the box, making it 2-2. Momentum then shifted as Marcus Thuram, son of French legend Lilian Thuram, rose highest to nod Inter ahead for the first time.

However, the story of the night was incomplete without his younger brother. Just four minutes later, Khephren Thuram struck back, connecting with a well-delivered free-kick to level the match at 3-3. Marcus later admitted he congratulated his brother through the eyes of family, even if the smile was missing.

Adzic’s stunning winner seals Juve’s perfect start

With the game seemingly heading towards a draw, 19-year-old Vasilije Adzic produced a moment of brilliance. Picking the ball up from range, the substitute unleashed a rocket that flew past Ronnow Williams, sending the Allianz Stadium into raptures.

For Inter Milan, it was a second consecutive defeat under new boss Cristian Chivu. The club are on just three points from three matches. Yet for Juventus, the win meant three victories from three outings, ensuring a perfect start to their Serie A campaign.

Without a doubt, the night belonged equally to the Thuram brothers, whose goals ensured family pride was written into Derby d’Italia folklore.
