President Bola Tinubu has commiserated with the Ogun State Government and the Onabanjo family over the passing of Chief Lucia Onabanjo, the former First Lady of Ogun State and matriarch of the Onabanjo family.
Chief Lucia Onabanjo died at the age of 101 on Monday, January 12.
In a condolence message, the President expressed sympathy with the family, friends, and associates of the deceased, who was the wife of the first civilian Governor of Ogun State, Chief Victor Olabisi Onabanjo.

President Tinubu described the late matriarch as a compassionate woman whose impact was felt across her community, Ogun State and the nation, noting that the outpouring of tributes after her death reflected the many lives she touched.

He commended her unwavering support for her husband during his tenure as governor from 1979 to 1983, as well as her keen interest in children’s welfare and the empowerment of women, which he described as exemplary.
The President said he was confident that Chief Lucia Onabanjo’s legacy of charity and kindness would continue to resonate, urging the Ogun State Government and the Onabanjo family to immortalise her by projecting her lifelong commitment to the less privileged and vulnerable.
