President Bola Ahmed Tinubu officially declared the 3rd National Para Games open on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, praising the athletes as true heroes of resilience.

The President’s declaration paved the way for the formal start of Nigeria’s largest multi‑sports competition for athletes with disabilities, running from March 26 to April 3, 2026.

Over 3,000 Para athletes are participating in the Games, representing 31 states and the Federal Capital Territory. They will compete across 15 Para sports during the week‑long event.

In his address, President Tinubu commended the athletes for their determination and spirit, emphasising that the Games reflect Nigeria’s commitment to inclusion and talent development.

The National Para Games serve as a crucial platform for identifying and nurturing Para athletes for international competitions, including the Commonwealth Games and Paralympic Games.
