Tobi Amusan has continued her impressive 2026 season by winning gold in the women’s 100m hurdles at the New Taipei Athletics Open in Taiwan on Saturday.

The Nigerian world record holder stormed to victory in 12.72 seconds despite a headwind of -0.3 metres per second. Amusan set a new meet record. She erased the previous mark of 12.80 seconds set by American Olympic silver medallist Nia Ali.
The 29-year-old produced a commanding performance. She took control after the fourth hurdle and steadily widened the gap between herself and her rivals. By the closing stages, Amusan had opened such a lead that she crossed the finish line before the last athlete in the field had cleared the final hurdle.
Taiwanese duo Bo Ya Zhang and Yi Po-an claimed silver and bronze. Zhang clocked 13.17 seconds, while Po-an finished in 13.37 seconds.
The victory marks Amusan’s second consecutive meet-record performance. She achieved a similar feat at the Rabat Diamond League earlier in the season, where she clocked 12.28 seconds to break her own meeting record of 12.45 seconds.
That performance matched her season’s best, which she had posted at the Xiamen Diamond League.
