Tragedy in Lokoja: Kogi poly lecturer dies after collapsing in class

A lecturer at Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, Mr. Anslem Ojodomo, has passed away after slumping while delivering a lecture to his students.

The institution’s Rector confirmed the incident in a statement released on Friday in Lokoja by the Acting Coordinator of the Directorate of Public Relations, Mr. John Onimisi, describing the development as a “deep personal shock.”

The incident has thrown the polytechnic into mourning, coming barely a month after the death of another lecturer, Dr Barnabas Akuba, who died shortly after completing his PhD programme.

Ojodomo’s sudden demise has stirred anxiety among both staff and students, many of whom are now raising concerns about the circumstances surrounding the recent spate of deaths within the institution.

Student eyewitnesses, who spoke to journalists on condition of anonymity, said the lecturer collapsed while speaking during a class session. Despite efforts to revive him, he was later confirmed dead at a nearby hospital.
