A busy day in the summer transfer market has delivered confirmed deals, pending agreements, and growing speculation across Europe, with Real Madrid and Manchester United leading the charge of squad changes.
Real Madrid’s defensive revolution
Real Madrid are set to begin their summer rebuild by signing Denzel Dumfries and Ibrahima Konate. The deals depend on Florentino Perez winning Sunday’s presidential election, but both are expected to be completed immediately after.
Dumfries has agreed on personal terms, and Madrid will trigger his €20 million release clause. The fee rises incrementally after July 1, so Madrid are acting early to secure the bargain. Inter will receive a profit on the €14.75 million they paid PSV in 2021.
Konate will arrive as a free agent. The Liverpool defender’s contract expires on June 30, and negotiations for an extension collapsed. Mourinho has approved the signing, and Madrid are expected to announce a pre-contract soon.
Josko Gvardiol is Madrid’s next target. The Manchester City centre-back is open to a move, and Mourinho is a big admirer. Madrid are preparing a major bid to secure the Croatian.
Mourinho has personally requested Riccardo Calafiori. The Arsenal defender worked with Mourinho at Roma and fits the profile of a versatile centre-back who can also play left-back. The Italian is valued highly by Arsenal.
Man United make first moves under Carrick
Manchester United have secured their first signing under permanent manager Michael Carrick. The club has reached an agreement with Atalanta for Brazilian midfielder Éderson.
The deal is worth €45 million, including add-ons. Éderson will sign a four-year contract with an option for a fifth season. The 26-year-old fills the void left by Casemiro’s departure and has three senior Brazil caps.
United are now targeting West Ham’s Mateus Fernandes. The Portuguese playmaker is available after West Ham’s relegation, with the Hammers reportedly demanding £80 million. United have already made contact.

Rasmus Hojlund has completed his permanent transfer to Napoli. The Danish striker joined on loan last summer with an obligation to buy if Napoli qualified for the Champions League. That condition was met last week.
Napoli have paid €44 million for the 23-year-old, who scored 16 goals in 44 appearances during his loan spell. Manchester United confirmed the move with a statement wishing Hojlund well. Napoli are expected to appoint Massimiliano Allegri as their new manager.
Lewandowski offered to Fenerbahce
Robert Lewandowski has received a lucrative offer from Fenerbahce. The Polish striker will leave Barcelona as a free agent when his contract expires on June 30.
Presidential candidate Hakan Safi has proposed a deal worth up to €20 million per season. The offer would make Lewandowski the face of Fenerbahce’s project. No formal club offer has been made yet, and Lewandowski is said to be considering all options.
