Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, on Wednesday declared that his administration is achieving visible results across vital sectors, including health, education, agriculture, infrastructure, and security.

Speaking at the Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Arcade in Akure to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary, Aiyedatiwa assured the citizens of accelerated progress in the coming months, noting that the state is undergoing a “remarkable transformation” guided by the “OUR EASE” policy framework.

The governor also used the occasion to commend President Bola Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda.”

Highlighting major infrastructure projects, Aiyedatiwa confirmed that various projects are being executed simultaneously across the state.

These include the dualisation of the Akure-Idanre, Akungba–Ikare, and Okitipupa–Igbokoda roads, the construction of jetties and walkways in riverine areas, and the approval of five kilometers of road rehabilitation in each of the 18 local government areas.

“Roads are not just pathways, they are lifelines that will boost commerce, agriculture, reduce travel stress and encourage economic activities and the daily life of our people,” he stated.

In the healthcare sector, the governor disclosed that his administration has expanded the state’s contributory health scheme and completed a pharma-grade warehouse to ensure a guaranteed supply of medicines.

He also mentioned the renovation of hospitals and the prioritization of recruitment of health personnel.

“Our people in rural areas will no longer need to travel far to access basic healthcare.”

Beyond this, we have resolved that all health facilities in the State would be upgraded to meet global medical standards,” Aiyedatiwa added.

The governor also detailed strides in education, which include classroom rehabilitation, provision of instructional materials, bursaries and scholarships, expansion of digital learning opportunities, and the continuous operation of free shuttle buses and boats.

To strengthen food security and job creation, the state has secured 26,000 hectares of land and earmarked N7.5 billion for agricultural development.

On security, the governor emphasised the administration’s commitment to protecting lives and property.

“We have provided not less than 75 High-grade Hilux vehicles equipped with modern security gadgets to our security agencies to help them respond quickly and effectively to threats,” he said, setting a goal for every citizen to feel safe in their communities and workplaces.

Commending citizens for their trust, Aiyedatiwa pledged: “In the coming months, you will see more progress. Ondo State is moving forward, Nigeria is moving forward; and nothing is beyond our reach.”

Earlier in his welcome address, the Secretary to the State Government, Taiwo Fasoranti, noted that the celebration was an acknowledgment of Nigeria’s past struggles and a platform to showcase the administration’s achievements.

He lauded the governor’s “fiscal transparency and accountability” as key enablers of reforms that have led to “unprecedented socio-economic revival and restoration” in the state.

The event featured a parade mounted by the Nigeria Police, schools, and various political and non-political groups.
