Veteran Nigerian actor Yemi Solade has shared his thoughts on the kind of earnings Nollywood actors make and how it relates to the purchase of luxury cars.
He spoke during a chat on the Honest Bunch podcast, where he addressed the claims of some actresses who own expensive vehicles like the G-Wagon.
Solade explained that the film industry in Nigeria does not generate enough financial reward for an actress to afford such cars from acting alone.
He said that the reality of Nollywood’s pay structure makes it almost impossible for anyone who relies only on movie roles to buy a G-Wagon.
According to him, those who are able to acquire such cars usually have other businesses or additional sources of income outside acting.

He pointed out that movie roles do not pay the kind of money required for such luxury purchases and that depending on acting alone cannot sustain that lifestyle.
He said: “No actress can come out and say she bought her G-Wagon strictly from the money she made through acting. The earnings from Nollywood are not enough to cover such a luxury purchase. Acting alone cannot provide that kind of money unless the person has other sources of income or investments outside of movies.”
