Popular Nigerian rapper CDQ has alleged that the country’s music industry is heavily influenced by powerful groups and cliques, making it difficult for independent artists to succeed.

Speaking in a recent interview with content creator JBrandy, the ‘Nowo Soke’ hitmaker claimed that many artists face challenges in the industry if they are not connected to a particular circle, gang, or cult group.

According to him, musicians who have managed to build successful careers without aligning themselves with such groups are fortunate.

CDQ further argued that artists who remain outside these networks often invest heavily in their careers without getting the expected results.

“If you don’t belong to a particular cult group, you might probably spend a lot of money and not see anything in return,”

The rapper also urged artists, record label executives, and other key players in the entertainment sector to discourage the growing association between music business and gangsterism.
