The Chief of Staff (COS) and Chairman of the Anniversary Planning Committee, Niyi Adebayo has said the administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji in Ekiti State has positioned the state on the path of economic greatness through significant investments in key sectors.

Speaking at a press conference in Ado Ekiti to commemorate the third anniversary of the administration, Adebayo hailed the government’s substantial focus on aviation, agriculture, healthcare, and infrastructure over the past three years, which he noted has successfully ramped up public facilities.

He affirmed that Oyebanji would not relent in implementing his six-pillar development agenda, stating that the administration is poised to achieve even more in the coming year.

Adebayo acknowledged the commitment and support of Ekiti citizens in executing government policies, describing it as a vital impetus for delivering the best for the populace.

The COS highlighted the “tremendous impact” made across thematic sectors, including road infrastructure, agriculture, youth employment, and rural development, asserting that these efforts have transformed Ekiti into a desirable destination for investors and tourists.

To mark the third anniversary, Adebayo revealed that several “life-changing projects” would be commissioned.

These include major road works such as the Ikere-Igbara-Odo road, Ogotun-Ikogosi road, Isinbode-Ara-Ikole road, and Phase 1 of the Ado Ekiti Ring Road, which traverses over six major towns, alongside other key urban and rural roads.

In human services, he announced that five general hospitals, which have undergone comprehensive rehabilitation and been equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, would be inaugurated for public use.

Emphasising the state’s comparative advantage in farming, Adebayo disclosed that over 5,000 youths have been fully engaged in commercial cluster farming.

He noted that the government is encouraging this by providing free land clearing and building dormitories at farm settlements, reminiscent of those established by the Chief Obafemi Awolowo administration in the old Western Region.

The COS maintained that this focus on commercial agriculture is responsible for the geometric increase in food product levels, a factor he attributes to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) rating the state as having the country’s lowest incidence of food inflation.

“The economic impact of removing such a huge number of youths from the unemployment market in a state like ours is immense,” he remarked, assuring that the government will continue delivering the dividends of democracy to achieve economic prosperity.

Adebayo also congratulated citizens on the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority’s (NCAA) approval for the full-fledged commercial operation of the Ekiti State International Cargo Airport.

He described this milestone as a means of transforming the state’s landscape, serving as a springboard for its economic potential, and creating leverage for business and investment competitiveness nationally and globally.

Other members of the planning committee present at the briefing included the Secretary to the State Government, Habibat Adubiaro; Head of Service, Folakemi Olomojobi; State Chairman of APC, Sola Elesin; Special Adviser to the Governor on Information, Taiwo Olatunbosun; Special Adviser Office of OTSD, John Ekundayo; Chairman of ALGON, Olusegun Ojo; and Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Olayinka Oyebode.
