WhatsApp has now supported live audio chats in all group sizes, letting users talk without making a traditional group voice call.
According to WhatsApp, this feature promotes informal, flexible audio communication, similar to platforms like Discord and Telegram voice channels.
Users can tap the call button and select “voice chat” to start a session, which doesn’t ring other members’ devices.
Instead, group members receive a silent notification and can join or leave at will during the chat’s active period.
Chats remain live for up to one hour unless everyone leaves earlier, providing spontaneous, real-time interaction across all group types.
