Soludo speaks after beginning his second term as Anambra governor

Professor Charles Soludo and his deputy, Onyekachukwu Ibezim, were sworn in for a second term as governor and deputy governor of Anambra State.

The ceremony, held on March 17, 2026, at Alex Ekwueme Square, was administered by the State Chief Judge, Justice Onochie Anyachebelu.

It marked the beginning of a fresh four-year mandate following Mr Soludo’s victory in the November 2025 governorship election.

In his inaugural speech posted on his X page on Thursday, Soludo set out his administration’s priorities for the next four years, with a strong focus on sustainable development and large-scale infrastructure.

He said his government would concentrate on improving living standards across the state.

He urged residents to remain united and committed to building what he described as a “prosperous homeland”, stressing that progress would depend on collective effort.

The event drew several prominent figures from across the country, including: Vice President Kashim Shettima, who represented President Bola Tinubu, former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, Emeka Anyaoku, former Anambra Governor Chris Ngige and traditional rulers, including Nnaemeka Achebe and Enitan Ogunwusi.

Reflecting on the new term, the governor described it as the start of another phase in Anambra’s development journey.

He thanked residents for their continued support and constructive feedback, noting that governance works best when citizens and government collaborate.

Soludo ended his address on an optimistic note, expressing confidence that with sustained cooperation, the state would continue to make steady progress.

“May Anambra continue to win,” he said.
