Adekunle Gold goes down memory lane, recounts horrific 2015 experience during performance in OAU

In 2015, Nigerian recording artiste, Adekunle Gold was a fledgling musician who was signed to Olamide‘s record label, Yahoo Boy No Laptop (YBNL). At the time, he had only released one single, ‘Sade‘, a cover of British boy band, One Direction‘s ‘Story of my life’.

In a series of tweets on his official Twitter account, Adekunle Kosoko who is better known as Adekunle Gold recounted what happened when he was billed to performed at the Nigerian higher institution, Obademi Awolowo University (OAU) in 2015.

According to the singer-songwriter, he was allegedly harassed and assaulted by some students in his hotel room following his performance at the institution.

The popular musician stated that he was initially paid the sum of N300,000 (three hundred thousand naira), however, the assailants who attacked him in his room absconded with half the price after they were done dealing with him.

Adekunle Gold stated that he had to perform the single, ‘Sade’ several times on that fateful day because it was the only song he had released at the time. He went further to mention that he performed for a total of six minutes and not four minutes as claimed by some social media trolls.

The award musician who has since released four studio albums made this revelation following the heinous pandemonium that occurred at socialite, Poco Lee’s homecoming concert at the Lagos State University (LASU) on Thursday, July 13.
