Aiyedatiwa speech

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to security with the distribution of 50 Toyota Hilux operational vehicles to security agencies across the state.

The presentation ceremony, held at the Government House grounds in Akure on Wednesday, marked a key highlight of the governor’s first 100 days in office.

Addressing attendees, Aiyedatiwa described the gesture as a strategic move to strengthen the capacity and responsiveness of security operatives in tackling crime and ensuring the safety of residents.

“This event underscores our administration’s unwavering commitment to enhancing the effectiveness, efficiency, and capacity of our security agencies to respond to any security alert or acts of criminality in the state,” the governor said.

He noted that the initiative was a continuation of the 25-vehicle distribution carried out in July 2024 and aligned with his development agenda, tagged OUR EASE, which prioritises public safety.

Highlighting the importance of collaboration among security stakeholders, Aiyedatiwa called for sustained synergy to confront security challenges facing the state.

He further urged beneficiaries to deploy the vehicles for patrol, emergency response, and other operations aimed at safeguarding lives and property.

Secretary to the State Government, Taiwo Fasoranti, praised the governor’s proactive approach to security, stressing that the administration treats safety with utmost seriousness.

He said the government’s actions reflect a firm resolve to maintain order and fulfil its social contract with the people.

Brigadier General Justin Ifeanyi, Commander of the 32 Artillery Brigade, who spoke on behalf of all security agencies in the state, pledged that the vehicles would be effectively utilised and maintained for optimal service delivery.

Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, Commander of the Ondo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun Corps), also expressed gratitude to the state government, noting that the additional vehicles would significantly improve mobility and operational efficiency.

Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Olamide Oladiji, hailed the initiative as a landmark step in addressing the long-standing mobility challenges facing security personnel across various constituencies.

Delivering the vote of thanks, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Oluseyi Okenla, who represented CP Wilfred Olusola, commended Aiyedatiwa for his continued support and commitment to equipping security agencies with essential tools.
